Responsibilities:
1. Direct choir for the 8:00 a.m. (when offered) and 9:30 a.m. worship services as well as other occasional church gatherings.
2. Direct rehearsals of adult choir on a weekly basis.
3. Work with pastor(s) in scheduling special music (soloists and ensembles) for the above worship services when the choir is not scheduled to sing.
4. Schedule and lead additional practices and events as needed.
5. Work with pastors in selecting choral music that integrates with sermon and worship themes.
6. Work closely with the church accompanists.
7. Order and maintain music library.
8. Recruit volunteers, provide training and leadership to the choir and “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
Skills required:
1. Good organizational, administrative, and leadership skills
2. Effective interpersonal skills.
3. At least 3 years experience directing adult music teams and choirs
4. Exposure to various worship forms and styles.
5. Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian life-style
Compensation:
Compensation will be in the range of $100.00-$150.00 per week, dependent on experience, payable twice per month on the 15th and the 30th days. This compensation includes all the aforementioned responsibilities. No overtime will be provided. As a less than ¾ time employee of the church, no benefits are provided.
The Church Choir Director is accountable to the pastors, the Staff/Parish Relations Committee and the Worship Ministry team.
