Responsibilities:
The Director of Evangelism has two areas of responsibility. As the "Reach" Team Leader this person is responsible for overall coordination of all evangelism efforts in the church. As Church Growth Team leader, this person works directly with the Church Growth Team in directing the specific tasks of advertising and publicity.
A. “Reach” Team Leader
1. provide oversight for all areas of evangelism by coordinating efforts of all ministry teams under the “Reach” ministry umbrella.
2. meet weekly with pastor and staff (“Red” team) for spiritual development and guidance.
3. meet monthly with “Green” ministry team leaders to ascertain ministry activity and effectiveness.
4. meet minimum of twice per year with “Blue” ministry team leaders to ascertain ministry activity and effectiveness.
5. work with “Green” and “Blue” ministry team leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for evangelism and church growth that meets the goals and objectives of the Church Council.
6. recruit and train leaders for all evangelism related ministry teams when required.
7. provide a written report to Charge Conference noting areas of successful ministry and goals for coming year.
B. Church Growth Team Leader – this ministry team is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive strategy for evangelism that includes advertising, publicity, special events that will attract members of the community, web site design and maintenance, and other evangelistic outreach ministries.
1. recruit minimum of 3 team members to serve on the ministry team.
2. meet regularly so as to be effective in meeting team and church goals
3. develop an annual budget for advertising, publicity, web-based ministry and special events and submit it to the Finance Committee.
4. approve all expenditures relating to evangelism while remaining within budget.
5. develop newspaper ads and place them according to schedule. Make sure times and dates are current. Get pastor’s approval before making any major changes.
6. maintain website at least weekly, making sure all information is current.
7. plan at least two evangelistic outreach events per year that will attract new people.
Qualifications:
1. must be a member of the church
2. must have a passion for evangelism and growing God’s kingdom
3. must have a basic knowledge of computers and Internet
4. art skills a plus
5. must have good administrative and leadership skills
6. must have good interpersonal and relational skills
7. Must have spiritual maturity and a commitment to a Christian life-style
Compensation:
This is a servant leadership position with no financial renumeration. The minimum commitment for service is three years.
The Director of Evangelism is accountable to the Director of Program Ministries and the Church Council.
