Stephen Ministry: You Don’t Have to Walk Alone
Life has a way of bringing seasons when we feel overwhelmed, discouraged, lonely, or uncertain about what lies ahead. The loss of a loved one, a serious illness, divorce, family struggles, a job change, or other life transitions can leave us feeling as though we are carrying more than we can manage alone. During these times, Stephen Ministry offers a caring presence and a reminder that God’s love surrounds us, especially in our most difficult moments. Through this ministry, trained Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one, confidential Christian care to people who are facing challenges and need someone to walk alongside them.
Those who receive care from a Stephen Minister are called care receivers. Care receivers are people just like us — a part of New Song United Methodist Church, friends, neighbors, or anyone experiencing a difficult season of life. Receiving care is not a sign of weakness or a lack of faith; rather, it is an opportunity to experience God’s grace through the compassion of another person. Stephen Ministers listen without judgment, offer encouragement, pray, and provide a consistent, caring presence. They do not try to fix problems or offer easy answers. Instead, they create a safe space where care receivers can share their feelings, work through challenges, and discover hope at their own pace. All conversations are confidential.
You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. If you or someone you know is going through a difficult time, Stephen Ministry may be a meaningful source of support. Whether you are grieving, feeling anxious, navigating a major life change, or simply longing for someone who will listen, a Stephen Minister can walk beside you as you journey through this season of life. Asking for care is a courageous step toward accepting the love and support God provides through others. To learn more about receiving care, please contact our church’s Stephen Ministry leaders. We would be honored to help you discover the comfort, encouragement, and companionship that Stephen Ministry offers.
